Global Action Forum: Setting a Global Majority Agenda for AI Innovation
About the Forum
This invitation-only convening brings together senior decision-makers shaping the future of global AI safety and governance. The forum is intentionally designed to be interactive, intimate, and actionable.
Our main goal is to provide a space for Global Majority countries and senior government leaders to collaborate on a policy agenda that will inform participation in the upcoming AI Action Summit hosted by the French government on February 10–11, 2025.
Building upon previous AI-focused gatherings at Bletchley in November 2023 and virtually in Seoul in May 2024, that Summit will broaden its focus on safety to address five key themes:
Public Interest AI
Future of Work
Innovation & Culture
Security & Safety
International Governance.
This AI event was timely in that it offers a strong platform where the global majority can begin to tease out their AI issues with a view to making stronger input to the global level AI conversations.
— N. John Walubengo, Senior Advisor for AI and Emerging Technologies, Ministry of Information, Communications and Digital Economy (MoICDE), Republic of Kenya
Cordel Green, Executive Director, Jamaican Broadcasting Commission, Caribbean AI Initiative
“Intellectually stimulating discussions with a small group of diverse and thoughtful people. I was delighted to learn about Brazil's pioneering Artificial Intelligence and Data Protection Sandbox Pilot Project, a model for other global majority countries.”
“Global Majority Countries (GMC) make up over 80 percent of the world’s population, yet, despite their strength in numbers, they are largely overlooked in important forums where policy is shaped. The Global Action Forum aims to advance Global Majority Countries and their valuable contributions to the AI and high-tech agenda through their differentiating dividends: a growing young and talented workforce and burgeoning innovative hubs.”
